Smile What if?

If you could go back in time to the 70s and buy a brand-new 73-79 Ford truck, what would you get? I think I would go with a 79 F150 Custom with the Free-Wheeling package. The truck would be black with the chromatic "rainbow" stripes. It would be a 351M, C6 at, 4WD. It would have the factory GT(roll) bar and the orange wagon wheels. There is a picture of this exact truck in the 79 Ford Free-Wheeling trucks brochure. My second choice would probably be a 77 F150 Ranger XLT. It would be a 2-tone tan and brown regular cab longbed. It would be a 2WD with a 351M and a C6 at.

wellllllet me see, i would get one just like the one i wrecked. 79, black with red pinstripes and interior, 351 w, c6, tilt, cruise, and ac! oh god what a truck! first ford truck i ever had that would run over 100 in a wink! guess that was part of what happened to it, missed a curve at a high rate of speed. poor truck only had 1200 miles on it. i still cry over it occasionally.

I would stay away from the 351M didnt they have alot of trouble with leaky rear crank seals? I would choose a 1976, f-350, 4 speed, pto winch option, short bed, 460cu, triple core radiator, tow package, disc brakes, west coast mirrors, AC, premium factory radio. and make it green

This brings out my emotional side....

Oh, if only I could go back in time and get this.

1974 F-350 Supercab 4wd, 460 gasoline, NP 435 trans, NP 205 t-case, 4.11 axle ratio with LS cariers, painted either Ford red or two tone navy blue and silver.

I think I would go for an f-750 4x4 with a crewcab and a diesel if they could do it, also a 10 or 12 foot flat bed dump, pto winch also. If I could not get that then a 79 f-350 supercab 4x4.

COULD I GET TWO!!!!! First would be the same as the brand new one I bought and also wrecked. 79 F150 4X4 black Ranger XLT, and the second would be a 79 F350 4X4 Lariat super cab in the two tone blue and silver with everything they could put in it and then some! I just was talking to a buddy of mine about this. I would be willing to spend 40 to 50 grand on a brand new 79 at this current day. Oh the memory's!

jimbare you sound like me, I also wrecked mine with 11,000 mile's on it. Just about had it for a year.

An early 1978 black short wheel base F-150 4x4 with round headlights, 4speed, 351M, and I would jack it up 4 inches and put 35x12.50's with chrome spoke wheels on it.

I would definetly get a 79 F100 Custom, 2wd, 351M, 5spd. Deep Forest green with white pinstripes around the racetracks. no chrome except the bumpers and grille, rear lowered two inches to level the truck, ford 9" with 30 gears. dual side exit exhaust with 50series tires on solid centerlines.
