howdy, ok heres the deal. ill be riding down the road and my driver side front wheel will be clicking. sounds like something is loose. its real faint though. ill have to stick my head out the window to hear it clearly. and the clicking, actually its more like a knocking sound, if u can tell the difference between the two. the knocking will get faster when i get goin faster. but when i apply the brakes, even just a little bit, the knocking will stop. any ideas? is it a big deal or should i just forget about it?
You might want to start by looking over your brake. Missing pin or anti-rattle clip, or something abou the caliper being loose. If it's not the brake then you will need to do some looking at suspension parts, shock, spring, or something loose.

Check the hollow hub covers, that screw into your wheels. The screws are probably loose which is making it rattle against the hub. Mine did the same thing, and after i tightened the screws it stopped then the screws came loose again, took them both off and havent heard it since. If they are that loose then you will be able to wiggle them with your hand.
That is exactly what happened to me when my auto locking hub went. Just for a test, drive at a slow speed where you can here the clicking, then engage the 4x4 and see if it stops. If it does that it is definitely the auto hubs.
My auto's do that too...I know the left side my auto hub had a small bearing set that broke apart...I took it out but my ride side still does it...I just got new warn manual hub for $130 (I figured I'd just buy them since I was going to put them on any way) which I'll put on tomorrow...I'll write back and tell you how it goes!
You might want to check the brake pads. This happened to me on my bronco shortly after changing them out. The length of the brake pad tabs was slightly shorter than the previous set thus leaving a little room for them to click up and down when they caught the brake rotor. Good luck.
