Head Gasket?

1. Does any one know the Diameter of the Edel Heads combustion chamber?
2. Should the gasket match the bore or the combustion chamber diameter?
3. Does any one know where I can get a head gasket that matchs my engines bore (4.08) or head diameter (???) and has a thickness of .01?
This seems to be the easiest way to boost compression.
Thanks.

are you nuts? the gasket bore should be ever slightly bigger than the bore. a .01 gasket would be 1/4 as thick as a regular one. it would last about a week at a time.

The things you are looking for would definitely boost compression. As to the availablity though... The copper gaskets are half the FelPro's, around .020 but I do not recall the diameters of the bore holes. I have a set of both at home, I'll compare to the .041 Felpro's for you this eve.

fordeverpower, Yes, I am nuts. I have to be to spend all this money on a 76 F150 2wd 1/2 ton truck. The heads are new and the block was just decked so I figure it will seal pretty well. .02 thickness will do also.
Mike, thanks for doing that for me.

The bore openings on the .020 copper head shims I have are the same wide open design of the regular FelPro's, about 4.36's around. If I might suggest someone you can call and run your thoughts or requirements by. Give Rob McQ a call at Blue Oval Performance (303-762-8298), run your questions by him. He is a visitor here every once and a while as well as the gent who supplies all my fun goodies. Tell him Mike G recommended you call.
