E40D hard shifting

Ok, I've read a lot of posts on this problem. I have a '94 F150 with 243k miles. Trans was rebuilt at around 140k miles. It was supposibly upgraded with new parts. I'm now having very hard 1-2 and firm 2-3 shifts, intermittently. Sometimes it will last for a day or a week then go away for a day, week or month. There is no tc shutter and I do not know the line pressure when this is happening. Right now my plans are to drop the pan and replace the solenoid pack and install Baumann Engineerings valve body kit to see if this solves the problem. I have had a service shop flush the entire trans twice thinking it might clean out any crap inside but to no avail. There are no codes in memory. Any suggestions, ideas or comments.

And yes, I know it's time to buy a new truck but I'm currently pouring money into my '75 Bronco.

Gannet, I had the same symptoms on my '93 F-350. Tried the same thing you did with flushing the system and replacing all of the fluid, changing the filter, etc. No improvement...it would still shift hard (hard enough to bark the tires!) Took it to the dealer...yes I was desperate...and their tranny tech diagnosed it immediately. It was due to a bad torque convertor. Replaced it and filled with fluid. This was several thousand miles ago. Still shifting nicely. A new TC will cost around $200 or so, but labor can be quite expensive unless you plan on changing it yourself. The dealer's labor quote was $800.
