back to square one

well i thought i was gonna have my truck running but it just doesnt seem like it will ever be back together..i found the replacment tranny at cofers in clearwater after a 6 month search and even though it came out of the same yr truck the tail shaft housing is differant so i thought id be able to just swap them but the new tranny doesnt have the speedo gear on it or even the slot to hold the steel ring on it..i have no idea how to swap the wshafts so it looks like im at a loss still...does anybodt know if super glue or j b weld might hold the plastic gear on the shaft? i dont have alot of money to put into this truck and my poor gf's truck is getting abused with all the travel to dr's and such her 2000 ford p/u is gonna have 100k in less than 2 weeks so any ideas would be appreciated...thanx tim
