I have a used 2002 explorer with air/heat in the rear. Front control's turned on , I hear a thumping sound in the left rear, it sounds like a door opening and closing. The only way to stop the noise, is to pull the #20 fuse. Any ideas?
Sorry about the poor choice of topic. I'm new to this computer/ on-line thing. Back to my problem, the aux air/heat unit in my suv makes a thumping noise any time the Main air/heat unit is on. the ONLY way to stop it , is to remove the fuse #25 (not the #20). It sound's like the signal sent to the door is messed up. Any ideas?
If we are talking about the same fuse, it is a 5 amp? Ford's cd manual says is for the "Rear A/C control module (front) Temp blend door actuator (19e616), trailer tow relay, battery charge." With out more details this is all I could find. "The temperature blend door and the air distribution door are controlled by electronic actuator motors" (19E616) By all means contact me and I will try to help more.
The 2002 Mountaineer had the same problem but I had the dealership replace it before I bought it. It is the recirculating fan gear/motor witch is made out of plastic. It is stipped and needs to be replace. Dont ask me whats invovled, we had the dealership fix it. I hope this helps?
Hi SCRAPYsnx420, I got into the rear unit. Ripped in to the unit, all the way, clear down to the little noise maker. It is a little white box with a shaft sticking out. Inside is a switch/ slide contact. I must the temp blend door. Tested the unit , was able to get it to thump, I don't think it is completely hooked up. Did put it back together, (), Fired it up, thumped for awhile, then quit. adjusted the temp to max cold, thumping returned. Conclusion- unit . Will half to bite the bullet and buy a new one......
