Umm...ok, for all of you who keep up with my posts ignore the first part of this.
Recently I have been running an SCMT with the Edge module and attitude monitor combo. I have the attitude monitor alerts set at 1450 EGT, and the backdown at 1500 degrees. One night, I decided to run both modules double stacked, both on full blast. I ran it for a little while, however the timing was too severe and the motor was making a nice ratchet noise, so I stopped and de-tuned it. I only really got on it one time, and I noticed my EGT alert was flashing. I figured I went over the limit and forgot about it.
After getting home today, I decided to play with the history on the monitor. I pulled it up, and pulled up Max EGT and low and behold guess what it said...1970 degrees
I don't know if it was a false reading or not. So far the gauge seems very accurate. Needless to say I won't be doing that again; althought it was a breif period of time and the motor seems fine (at least for now, I knocked my backdown point to 1400.)
On some monitors, the display unit will show max temperature when the sensor is disconnected.
If you didn't clear the max after hooking everything up, that might be the problem.
You might try disconnecting the pyro probe and see what kind of reading you see. If it goes to 1970 then you have your answer. If not, then ouch!

That might be it. The monitor had power before the probe was plugged into the box. I cleared it; Ill keep my eye on it.
I know even with the SCMT on Econo and the Edge maxed out it would barely climb over 1500, I find it hard to believe that just bumping up the SCMT would make it go up nearly 500 degrees.
