First post!

I would like to say hello to all on this forum. I have learned a bunch here.

I do have a request for opinions:
My son wants my 93 F150 XL 4.9L 5speed manual when he turns 16. The truck is in great shape, and the engine at 215,000 miles is still strong and non smoking. If the engine does need rebuilt in the future, he is thinking he'd like to put a carburated 302 or 351 in it. My question is what V8 engines will bolt to my transmission/drive train.

Thanks

In all respect, your son will probably be in his lower 20's before that engine goes out. I'd be more worried about the transmission and particularly the clutch considering he'll be a new driver.

The 302 and 351w will be direct bolt in, but the Mazda 5 tranny will most likely be toast long before the 300 is.

Also a consideration, you can't easily swap from EFI to Carb legally, you've vehicle is pretty much allowed not to put out any more emissions than it did previously off the assembly line.

...replace a 4.9L with something else?? those engines are fantastic! I'd rather rebuild or replace with another 4.9L IMHO.
