You know when ABC asks someone about driving their "steel monster" how the report will likely go. Even though her smallish SUV would be outweighed by almost any 50s or 60s full sized family car. I bet a 50s Caddy with that X-frame probably would outweigh anything except an old Hummer.
The worse was the video clips.
First they show a SUV sliding off the road, hitting a small snowbank and then sliding and flipping down an embankment you would be lucky to climb 20 feet if it was rainy. Looked like to me almost a 35-45 degree incline. It would have flipped anything hitting it sideways including a ruler.
Then they showed a clip I saw on COPS. The guy was driving very fast and all over the road fleeing the policemen. I sort of remember the reason he was doing this was to hit the shoulder and throw a dirt cloud up ... at well over 75 mph. After a few times, he finally lost control and rolled the truck.
Nothing like showing a FELON fleeing police officers, speeding in a TRUCK (not even a SUV), driving into the shoulders on purpose trying to hurt people, to puff up your slanted SUV story.
If you are an SUV owner and want a good laugh always listen to Rush Limbaugh. He has always been on the side of teh SUV's and the crap we as owners have to take. One thing he points out is that when an accident involves an SUV the press always plays that aspect like a fine tuned fiddle. Rush jokes about SUV's being out to hurt maim and kill on their own volition. There was a drunk guy crashed into a house with his Ford Explorer how did the press report it? SUV crashes into home nearly killing four residents. If the guy were to be driving something else it would have read drunk behind the wheel plows into house....When there was a hit and run and the driver was driving an SUV the article read SUV kills jogger...I am sure having Rush read it or tell it is way better than I.
I too have seen reports of rollover tests and when the media is on a tangent about something they will do all they can to show the bad no matter how much it has to be manipulated to make it sway opinion their way.
I have taken some corners pretty dang fast in my Ex and I have never felt the slightest tip or feared it would go over. My gas mileage is better than some of the big cars out there, the pick ups out there and I am safer than most of these little weenie car drivers. I'll take an accident in my Ex over getting in one in my hubbys Toyota echo or even my daghters Taurus anyday.
Anybody read "Give Me A Break" by John Stossel. Pretty interesting. He talks about how he was wrong alot as a "consumer advocate" reporter. A real eye opener if you can find it.
i cant lie the steering in my 88' big bronco is SCARY sometimes and im sure it would roll easy sittin on that 4" lift and 35"s but i know that truck will protect me! it is tough as nails
ANY VEHICLE CAN ROLL OVER, i have seen a honda(or toyota, well some little import) roll over on flat dry pavement because the driver thought he was being cool cutting the wheels back and forth trying to loose control, well he lost control alright

Really !?!?!?
Interesting that the media does not publicize that isn't it ?!?
Was it ABC that did the big, fabricated report on Chevy pickups being dangerous due to the gas tank location about 10 yrs ago?
Actually that one was NBC, Dateline. Had to be pretty embarrassing to publicly admit it was a fabrication... They really hammered about the saddle tanks, but said nothing of the gas tank INSIDE the cab, unfortunately like the last of the Highboys had, and all the earlier trucks. I'm not saying it's unsafe, never had one leak, but it makes you wonder how it would go t-boned at 60 plus by some drunk... As for fools believing the news, my dad's one of them. News says it, has to be true. I went rounds with him on that saddle tank issue, he sure didn't say much after they publicly announced their fraud. He's just that gullible. Same kind of thing applies to conflicts like Iraq, how often do you hear about the GOOD our soldiers are doing over there, all the reconstruction, and the people there that are HAPPY we are there? They do exist, but not on the news.

All the other stuff they say thats not true doesnt bother me, but this....is the only thing that p1sses me off the most. Our new reporters making us look bad, why? Moooooooooooney money money money
Just irritates me to no endthat they are making us look bad to the world as well as to our own people, and too many don't look for the other side of the story, or what ISN'T reported, but leaks through in other channels. There are a few that try to get the word out, but the major media is too busy finding fault rather than finding fact.
