i seem to have a recurring problem where my 360 is leaking a fluid onto the manifold. when it is on the manifold it is too thin for me to identify. it only leaks when the motor is running and doesn't appear to be coming from the valve cover but i can't say for certain. in the morning im going to pull the valve covers, clean the oil drain holes, and replace the gaskets. i can't think of anything else that would be causing this leak other than oil dripping down onto the manifold. it seems to be leaking onto the manifold right at the number 2 exhaust port. i'm going to try this in the morning, but i'm also seaking any other advice as engine fires are not fun. the smoke appears to be a whitish grey, similar to a cigarette smoke when it's burning off. any help is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.
well, i popped the valve covers today and discovered they weren't on there very tight. instead of just tightening them, i took them off so i could replace the gaskets and clean out my oil drains. pulled both the covers off and much to my suprise, the entire valve train and everything under the cover is totally spotless. in fact, everything looks like its brand new. i looked around a little bit and found new gaskets between the intake and head. any idea what color the ford oem valve springs are? mine are bright yellow. it doesn't really look like something that would be oem.
o ok, i learn something new every day, it just suprised me how clean the head assembly was. i definately think that the gaskets are newer, theyre just too clean. anyway, i got everything back together but i screwed up somewhere....it won't start. the only thing i could have screwed up was the plug wire order and its not firing. my dizzy isn't labeled in any way as to which wire should be going to which cylinder. anyone know offhand which wires should be going to which cylinder? if you could, start front to back driver side and then passenger side of the distributor.

I keep finding oil in the valleys of my intake manifold on the pass. side. Then one day, I noticed bubbles coming from one of the puddles. Looking further and experimenting, I found my manifold has leaks or is pourous. Time for an Edelbrock.
ok, forget my last post. that was my own stupidity. i forgot to plug the coil back in. i was standing at work cooking someones moons over my hammy and it just hit me. the leak isn't coming from the intake manifold, its coming from by the spark plugs on the driver side. i REALLY dont think its an exhaust leak but i am wrong from time to time. it seems to get worse the hotter the motor gets. i don't really want to put any money into the 360 as i have a 460 sitting in my garage waiting on a few more things before i can put it in. if its an exhaust leak ill throw a set of cheap headers on it and hope that solves it. i'm going to have my girlsfriends uncle take a look at it and see what he thinks it could be. i put the new vc gaskets on but its still doing it. i used felpros which to my knowledge and experience are good gaskets. ill try and tighten it up a little bit more and see if theres any change. i really dont know of any other fluids that go near there unless i have a serious crack in my head and its leaking antifreaze. ill looke more into it today when i get up.
