AODE help

My son has a CVic PI with AODE. he put in seals, torque converter and filter. has about 9 quarts of fluid in. It shows above the hatch lines but will not go into gear. Kinda almost wants to. He dropped one cooler line with it running and nothing came out. Torque converter was installed two clicks in. Torque converter had three quarts put in before install.

Ideas? Anyone run into something similar?

From what I know on thes transmissions is that the converter needs to go three clicks to be fully seated, another way to tell is to make sure when the tranny is installed that the converter will move in the holes of the flywheel.

Thanks!!! I will have my son pull the shield and double check. I had wondered about it being fully seated, but I had only ever heard on torque converters to go two clicks. His is an aftermarket converter and he said he had to trim a little off the studs to keep them from dragging, which was caulked up to it being aftermarket. Our dumb.
