I took the truck to a shop today and of course by the time I got there the symtoms went away. The guy connected a scanner to the jack under the dash and found right front wheel sensor intermittant. Is the a correct name for this sensor like a speed sensor or brake sensor or something so I know what to oder. I think I'll try and install myself. Anyway he seems to think that after driving awhile, the sensor heats up and then the abs over compensates and thats what is shutting down the abs system. After about 20 minutes of driving the abs light comes on steady and stays on until you turn off the engine. What do you think ? Is this a sound theory ?
It's just called a front wheel speed sensor in most catalogs.
Quite often electrical problems only show up when hot, so yes it's possible.
The sensor shouldn't be too expensive and they usually arent bad to change so it's probably a good thing to try.
Let us know how you make out with it.
Thanks for your coments. The sensor is $138.00 at the dealer, but Im sure I can find it less expensive elsewhere. Now after a few days, the abs light only comes on after driving about 20 minutes in the afternoon when its hot and will not come on in the morning when its cool. Anyway, thanks again.
