egr control solenoid??
located on the passenger side firewall? it buzzes for a couple minutes after the engine is shut off,is this normal?..I'm still trying to find the reason for surging..I'm not as mechanically inclined as most of you..I have a chilton manual and I get lost trying to locate some of these parts

I think mine does sometimes; probably just the pressure equalizing across the solenoid. Does it open and close on demand? This can easily be tested using the "output test" function of the EEC-IV computer. Enter the output state test (just after continuous memory codes are output during the KOEO test). Hook up a vacuum gauge/pump to the vacuum line that goes from the EGR solenoid to the EGR valve. Each press of the throttle should cycle the valve from open to close then back again. Pump your vacuum pump to see how well it holds vacuum, then press the throttle to change the solenoid state and see how well it holds vacuum.
