i have a problem with my motor and i hope you guys could help me.
351m in a 77 f150 2wd. ol the thing will not idle at all.
i was thinking that the jets were clogged up so i pulled the top of the (2bbl) carb off and i pulled the mains out to check them, they were clean. i didnt do anything exept that..well take the float out to get to them, didnt force anything .now when i get it started it will flood out and die.
after the motor dies i go out and lok at the carb......and it is still dripping gas down the venturis.not spraying ,dripping, alot.i cant even get it to stay running long enough to get out and climb in to the engine compartment to look at anything.i am really stuck here!
i need to get this turd running so i can go to work, what should i do???
i am starting to miss my little 4 bangin ranger!
Well for starters your floats are setting way too high or you have something in the inlet valve keeping it from seating. Those are the only two things that should cause the flooding problem.
When you put the float back in, did you snap the little clip back into place? If it's not snapped into place there will be no leverage action and the fuel pressure will drive the needle right off its seat.
you are talking about the wire clip that is attached to the float"axle" right?it snaps in to the needle valve bolt right?
if thats it i did that and tweeked the float alittle and it seems to work ok i just drove it and it diddnt flood out.
now i have to over come the cooling prob
thank you for you help!!!
