Roller-rockers
I have a street-rod '55 F100 with i.f.s. etc etc powered by a 1970 429 that has Torker manifold, 780cfm Holley, headers, Petronix ignition etc. It also has Isky 270 cam, guide plates, hardened pushrods (can't remember what brand but Competion Cams or similar I think from memory) and Crane roller rockers.
Trans is shift kitted C-6 with stock convertor, 2.75:1 9" rear, cuts 13.9 1/4s.
I have noticed the rockers are not centered on the tip of the valves on some of them, to fix that I would have to grind away one side of the slot in the guide plate and weld up the corresponding place on the other side.
Is there any REAL problem with the non-centered rocker tips or not?
P.S. I rev it to 5,800rpm and no problems so far, I have done 5,000 miles or more since fitting the rockers & cam etc.
If it's shifted so far one way or the other that the roller doesn't cross the entire tip, then you may want to shift it closer to the roller center to keep the geometry correct.
p.s. I am in New Zealand at the bottom of the South Island so it is not like I can run off and buy the "widget" or whatever I need from my nearest speed shop (it's 270 miles away!) or call in and see a handy experienced dyno shop.
If I HAD to center the rocker over the valve-tip what would bee the best/easiest method? - remembering what I just said above!!

The more agressive a cam is the more critica proper alignment and geometry are...
Hope this helps some...
