I too think the Titan is an ugly truck. All that chrome on it looks ostentatious to me. Too busy looking. Sort of like Chevy's Avalanche. Designed to look rugged maybe? Just looks stupid to me.

I am LMAO at Cruel! My 2004 Fx4 SCrew looks nothing like the Expedition. I test drove the following: Chevy 2500 HD SCrew, Dodge SCrew Hemi 4x4, Titan SCrew 4x4 and the F140 SCrew. IMO the Titan was best in performance although the Dodge was bad as well. Well since I don't care how fast I can go (less tickets) I chose a truck that looked and felt right to me. I was not buying the truck for you or anyone else. I expected it to have problems ALL new year models do. My buddy has the Titan and it has been in the shop 4-5 times now. I also have a friend that has a Hemi and guess what? Yup his has been in the shop and he has a new tranny and engine. Toyota has always had great automobiles but I am an American and I will drive American. The Chevy HD was a great all around truck and I almost bought it BUTTTTTTTTT, I have always drove Ford trucks and I guess I always will! If that means I am brand loyal then I guess I am! Evry individual will buy what is right for them. A truck is a truck they all look sweet in their own right but a Ford is a Ford - Nuff said!

Regardless, opinions can be based on ignorance. For example the Titan may not fit your appeal, but it is far from an "ugly" truck. IMO, it stands out in a crowd with authority, unlike the all-too-common F-150 which has a front end that lo oks just like the Expedition.
went to cruels gallery, and what a gallery it is. talk about nitpicking. this guy should trade for a nissan. i bet they don't get dirt in their engine compartment. unbelievable.

To Cruel:

Is this the first vehicle you have ever owned? If you drive in dusty areas, gravel roads, rainy days...ect. The engine compartment WILL get dirty.
Open the hood on ANY vehicle and see if its dirty. I say ANY because its true.
The F150 is an excellent truck. Sure, it has things that people dont like, but that's normal.

As far as the Titan goes.... I drove one before I bought my F150. I liked it, but I needed a Regular cab. Titan is not availble in regular cab. Also, I wont say that is ugly, because thats a word of opinion. But I will say that I prefer the F150 looks to the Titan...... If you think it looks like an Epedition... why did you buy it? If it looks like one now, it looked like one when you bought it. If you dont like it, sell it. Period. Then go flame up the forums of your new truck.

True, the Titan has a more powerful engine. Nissan makes powerful engines. This is a very common fact. Thats because they stretch the limit on their engines. I can almost bet the Triton engine will outlast the Endurance engine in the long run. The Ford engine is very upgradable. If you bought a truck because you wanted alot of power, you should have bought a Diesel. You can get some tremmenodus power out of a Diesel engine.
I think it is safe to say that all trucks made today are quality machines. Who's to say that Ford is better than Nissan or Chevy is better than Dodge. Theyre all great trucks. When it come down to it, you buy a truck based on what you like.

All in all, I have only had my truck in the shop one time, for read end clutch pack replacement. Thats the only probelm with my truck. 7000 miles now

Maybe that's why you customized the front-end look of your F-150 so much BlkButy?

All you have to do is compare a front view of each. They've got basically the same raised hood, same headlights, same bumper, same lower valance, same fog lights, tow hooks, and even the grill is basically the same. All angles and lines flow the same. I bet some of the OEM parts and aftermarket stuff is interchangeable too.

By BlkButy - I expected it to have problems ALL new year models do....but I am an American and I will drive American.
I guess that makes your expectations of American products lower than mine.

By BlkButy - I have always drove Ford trucks and I guess I always will! If that means I am brand loyal then I guess I am!
And that was my case and point.

You don't want to get me going. As I hold no loyalty to Ford products.

The amount of crud that gets into my engine compartment and onto the air intake is pathetic, and certainly worse than any other vehicle I've ever owned. We're talking on top of the engine here, and directly on the air intake, not what's coming through the grill. The underside of my hood gets dirtier than the top side. Snow, mud, and dirt all pass right by the hood seal. But hey, I don't drive my truck on the paved freeways of PA.

I've never had a truck that leaves 6" of uncleared area on the windshield in the driver's view either. Talk about a blind spot when it's snowing! And I'm not the only one who's complaining. To top it off, the wipers are keyed and can't be adjusted. Ford isn't doing anything about it.

The picture of the vibration dampener is sure "nit-picky". The truck vibrates...so drill the frame and stick on a big rubber and steel counter weight that does nothing but rattle. Yea, real nit-picky.

I wont' go on about the fact the mirror adjustment, radio on/off, hazard button, 4X ****, 12V accessory sockey, glove box, and even the interior lights dimmer switch aren't illuminated at night. Then we have the sun roof that only opens 3/4 of the way, spots on the windshield that won't defrost when it's cold, completely fogged windows in the rear seating area (no heat/defrost ducts), gut-less throttle response, bad vibrations, limp mode malfunctions, major rock throwing tires, rattles, squeaks, and the other repairs I've had. Not exactly up to par, thank you.

But its funny how you mock my gallery, yet you don't even have one of your own.

I'll say it again, the F-150 isn't all that. And it would be ignorant to bad-mouth the Titan. I bought the Ford because my boss worked to get us employees an X-plan deal. I didn't want to disrespect his efforts by buying something else. Pulling into the lot with a Titan would've shamed him, and he does a lot for us. I had no idea the troubles I would have with this $30K+ truck. I just got done with a buy-back on my 6.0L F-350 and another Ford pick-up before that. This will be my last Ford for a while.

I have had the vib problem since about 600 miles, FORD has been working very much to my satisfaction on finding and fixing it. I have considered looking into a buy back if it wasnt corrected soon, BUTTTTTT, then I took this incredible truck on a very long trip, PA, to Fort Sill, OKlahoma, 1256 miles each way! At 70-80 mph this thing felt like I was piloting an airplane, so smooth, handles as good if not better than any car I have driven on any trips (last trip I went to florida in a Lincoln mark 8), and after 12-15 hrs of continuos driving I was not fatigued, sore or cramped, nor did either of my passengers complain at all, one of them rode in the back seat the whole trip! This trip impressed me so much that you couldnt take this truck away from me now, vibs or not! Now that Im back a FORD Engineer is coming to run tests on my truck and I am confident they will resolve this. As far as all these other problems, I dont have any, but I might venture to say that if mistreated any vehicle will become premature junk, I dont care who made it!! My decision on keeping this truck is not based on any kind of loyalty, Just on the pleasure of driving this Great truck across the Greatest Country in the world!! PS. BUY AMERICAN!!!!!

BlkButy and other Ford Truck ENTHUSIASTS...save the bandwidth, don't bother responding to CC. When somebody ends a post with the phrase "Flame away", you know his true purpose on this board. Don't take the bait!

I can't believe the mods (and Ken, who pays the bills), continue to allow this guys endless projectile vomiting on this site.

hey cruel, i see you have been amember since jan. 2004 and have 400 posts, and a great gallery to go along with all your posts. you must have a lot of time on your hands to be able to post 400 times and also look for rust behind your glove box and dirt on the underside of your hood. hey, i sypathize with you as far as the vibes, but the other stuff, i'd say your ****. and keep watching, when i have time i'll post some pictures of my 10,500 mile, trouble free STX. i am not much of a computer person, and i came to this site because i really like my truck and was curious to see what other people were saying about theirs. i lost track of how many ford trucks and broncos i have owned over the years, plus my wifes escorts and now an escape and have never had any major problems with any of them. i'm sure the gas pedal was too close to the brake pedal in the escort and the turn signal lenses in my bronco were a funny shade of yellow and the sun visors in my 2001 f150 were too long and blocked my view and my ashtray didn't hold enough butts and on and on..... don't take it personal because as you see i have 20 some posts since march so i really don't get into posting unless i have a question or maybe an answer, but when i see posts like yours i get a little sore and i feel like i should respond. hopefully, i don't respond to silly posts too often.

Cruel, we got it the 5 billionth time we heard you complain about your truck. Its one thing to complain about or discuss problems, but at some point people just get tired of hearing a broken record. If you hate it that much why don't you sell it so we can have some peace around here?

Go buy a Titan, join a Titan forum and be a thorn in their side.... please!

They also debate ALOT on how their trucks are the best out there and that all other trucks are terrible. They must be angry about the 91 octane they're recommended to use. j/k
I honestly see that in all forums, not just the Titan/Dodge forums. I'm fairly new here, and this site doesn't seem too bad until you go into the Ford vs. The Competition forum. There are a lot of posters in there who seem to blindly defend Ford, and even make up lies about the other makes to make Ford look better.

The truth is, All the trucks are pretty good now. I have an 04 F-150, and I'm very happy with it. I know people with Hemi Ram's, and there is no denying that they are significantly more powerful than the 5.4 in the Fords. Does that mean the Fords are bad? No way, but there sure a lot of people who find it hard to admit there might be a few trucks that are as good or close, and more powerful than their Fords.

I am an automobile enthusiast. I currently own no less than 11 vehicles from 5 different makes. I like all of them for different reasons, but as you can see, I'm certainly not loyal to any brand. I guess I just can't understand why some people get so caught up in the brand loyalty thing?

Exactly what rule have I broken that deserves this lashing Ken?

Lets see....it's ok for members to talk about problems with the Titan and Hemi over and over here....

"My buddy has the Titan and it has been in the shop 4-5 times now. I also have a friend that has a Hemi and guess what? Yup his has been in the shop and he has a new tranny and engine."

...but not ok for me to follow up by talking about the problems with my F-150? Hmm.

And it's ok for members to talk about the looks of the Titan here....

"I just think the truck is ugly" and "So when people bad mouth the Titan and say it is an ugly truck... and "I too think the Titan is an ugly truck...Just looks stupid to me."

...but not ok for me to say the F-150 looks like an Expedition. Hmm.

Then you've got members characterizing Titan and Hemi owners as having a lack of intelligence, calling me names because of the pictures in my gallery, accusing me of baiting like a troll, and calling my posts projectile vomiting? And a mod even joins in the flaming calling me a thorn in the side? What the heck did I do to deserve all that?!

I didn't jump in this thread to prove which truck is best. I really don't care. All I know is my truck is not satisfactory, and I would say the same thing no matter the brand. Sorry, I don't live in a world of F-150 Utopia.

You guys just don't like what I have to say about my F-150 because it hurts your feelings. Hey, if you've got a great truck, then I'm happy for you. What do you care about my problems? But don't treat me like scum and muzzle my yap because I don't have a good truck. If you want to do something to ease your frustration, get Ford to fix it.

The comments made in this thread have proven exactly what I originally posted about brand loyalty, rose-colored glasses, and flaming me. What exactly bothers you so much about my truck's problems anyway? Think about it.

I bet what bothers everybody so much is your constant belly aching about it. Get rid of it if it is a problem. Buy a Titan all ready, that is what you are trying to justify in your mind. Why should you put up with that aggrevation? Why do we need your constant grumbling? Like Ken said be a thorn in somebody else's side.

CC, I'm not here to argue or call you names or say that I'm a loyalist etc. etc. you get the gist..... but I am here to say, why are you so intent on justifying yourself here [or in any other post]-(not all are intrusive just 90% or so) when you know controversy is soon to follow??? I can't believe one as yourself as intelligent as you portray yourself to be (yes believe it or not, you do) can be so implacable! sometimes, walking away is the best answer you can give. remember silence is golden.
I sure hope it isn't to see yourself as the one who disagree's to agree to disagree just to substantiate your claim or just for the H3LL of it.
It's soooo suspicious and sorta sounds as if you are here to insight contention and you know something......you ARE good at it! what do you really get out of this?

I'll say this, you'd probably make a great lawyer for OJ or MJ.

Just my observation!

No one likes being around someone who bellyaches constantly. Its like the guy everyone has at work.... he complains about things and many of the complaints are legitimate. But 90% of his conversations at the water cooler, break room, in the hallways, at the loading dock, etc., are complaints. Soon, everyone cringes when they seem him coming. He starts talking and they get that glazed over look, nodding their heads and replying "yeah, uh huh, yup" while thinking "will this guy ever shut up?" So you change the subject and say "man... its a beautiful day today" and he responds "yeah, too bad our tight wad boss doesn't give us enough vacation days to enjoy more days like this." You roll your eyes and realize he's a lost cause.....
