tough spot
I have a 1981 f 150 inline 6 4 speed manual. Changing rear main seal. Have tranny off and cannot move the 6 bolts on the flywheel. Not rusted on. They have the large slots on them. Would these have been put on w/ a pnumatic tool you think??
please help
If soaking them overnight with penetrating oil will not work, you can try a mid-sized impact wrench. Make sure you use a 6-point socket of the correct size so you don't round off the bolt head...that would be bad!
If that won't work, I would try getting them warm with a torch (not red hot...just warm them up) to try to losen them. This will break the lock-tite. The "heat wrench" usually works. Again, do not make them red-hot...that will only weld them into place.
Once you are done, go buy a *new* set of flywheel bolts...never reuse them if they have been stubborn to get off. It'll cost you like $20 max.
