For those of you who launch in 4X4 High, when are you supposed to turn it back to 2WD ??? Won't leaving it in 4X4 in too high of speeds ruin the tranny ????
2WD and 4 HIGH doesn't change the gearing and shouldn't hurt the tranny at all . Running 4X4 on the streets in a straight line shouldn't hurt anything , it's when you make turns you start putting alot of stress on the front end .
Just my $0.02 worth
You can switch it back to 2WD as soon as you leave the starting line but it won't affect anything. The load on the tranny will prevent it from disengaging until you let off at the end of the 1/4 mile.

I don't know what it is, but if I put it back into 2wd after launch, I feel a clunk from 3rd to 4th gear as it shifts...its not a shift, it *feels* like the 4wd disengaging...but I don't really know for sure. It could be some slack in the front driveline, but it only does it from 3rd to 4th and none of the other gears...
running the truck in tow haul mode you dont get max hp and tq out of it, you get max hp and tq w/o tow haul mode on but it would seem like the tow haul mode would be better because it holds the shift longer
