dumps, kit or trailer?

need a dump for construction business. tired of pulling crap out of the bed. have tool boxes down the sides plus system one rack. can fit a lot of garbage in it.
always thought to get a dump trailer. at least 3500 plus insurance.

saw a conversion kit at northern tool for 950. i hear its a direct bolt on plus some welding to hinge it. thinking i can install it in the driveway with some help. wont haul as much but it seems the price is right.

any 1st, 2cd or 3rd hand knowledge on this?

heres the kit

I saw a system on Trucks! that used an air bladder to lift your bed in order to dump. I don't think it was real expensive, Pretty sure there was no welding, and it was quite a bit cheaper than a hydraulic system. I'm sure if you kept your eyes open you might be able to find a used trailer for cheap too.

I had one on a dually, and my brother had one on a F250. They were Rugby lifts though, not the brand you mentioned.

It is an advantage to have a dump bed, especially if you're loaded and are backing uphill to dump. This can be a PITA with a trailer and can damage your transmission.

Our kits needed some welding done. Just be careful if you weld near your fuel tank

It's a lot of fun to "dump" your load at a fill site, only to have the guys next to you shoveling/raking their junk out of their beds

Make sure that whatever type you get hydraulically locks "down" as well. If not, the bed will rattle and drive you nuts.

The kits I have seen will not allow a trailer hitch - the back bumper and (maybe - I didn't get that close a look) the ends of the frame are hinged as well as the bed. Anyone know if this is the case?

It's hard to fit a hitch. I had mine custom welded to my frame to make it work. (Not a Superduty truck at the time)
