This car was reportedly lettered by a disgruntled employee of the graphics company used by the Kern County (Ca.) S.O. on his last day of work. The officer it was then assigned to drove it for almost a week before noticing the altered logo.
Well, that's possible. I found it on another site and just quoted what they had posted. The words "Kern County" are a little blurred, but that's apparently just a reflection, and it's on the same level as the lettering on the rear door. I don't see anything offensive, though!
Mike, I thought if anyone would know anything about it, it would be you, that's right about your neck of the woods, isn't it? (Well, not that there's much in the way of woods down there. More like cotton! Spent time there as a kid, my cousins all grew up in Shafter). So this was a joke that was intentionally lettered on the car by Kern Co. S.O.? -TD
I go by Shafter everyday. I forgot the entire story but the Sheriff got a little bit of heat over it. I don't recall the "and take your donuts too" part.
They did it to two of the cars, the other one was a canine unit, it said "we'll Bite your ***" where the first one says "we'll kick your ***" The sign shop that makes the decals for the county made up a set as a joke - Our new sheriff caught hell for trying to deny he knew about it when he had been seen out laughing at it with the rest of the deputies. I think the donut part has been added for the internet, the cars didn't have it when I saw the photographic pictures.
The and take your doguhnuts is photoshopped on there. Pretty good job if you ask me, but the tops of the letters are too straight to be on plastic trim that sticks out. Everything else seems to be real.
