road trip

just take 700 mile road trip with 04 f250 c/c 6.0 and have to say very impressed. 17.6 on overhead and not a prpbelm keeping up with traffic. the only thing is it needs another 12 volt plug, running freezer and kids tv and no place for anyting else

on side note, i spoke with a lady that just bought a 03 f250 s/c 6.0 used with 32000 miles and she stated it was stalling out/surgeing in traffic and lack of power at times. i asked her if she knew if it was a buy back model and she said yes. i quickly wrote this web site down for her and told her to take truck back to dealer immediatly.

i told to check web site for help or suggestions.

we were in ocean city md and she had a buisness sticker on truck that read J.B. MURRELL SALES so was wondering if anybody in that location has heard of them.

I just finished my first long road trip (1600 miles) from Vista, CA to Cortez,CO and back in my 04 crew cab, 4x4 (8/03 build), 1270 miles on the odometer when I sarted, no mods (yet). Average speed 80 mph. Average ambient air temp 90 degrees (it hit 117 in Neddles, CA) lots of mountain and high desert driving.

The truck ran like a champ 17.5 MPG (hand calculated) going out. 18.9 coming back with 1200 lbs. of walnut lumber in the bed. Passing slower vehilces, even in the mountains was a kick. Never could get that kind of a acceleration in my 99 SD w/5.4. I agree the cab could use another power point in the back but other than that I couldn't ask for more. Great ride, so smooth it is easy to loose track of how fast you are going (Not a real problem unless the CHP or DPS would like to document your fun ) Cruise control stayed locked in even on the big hills.

I'll be making a cross country trip to VA in Sept. and I am looking forward to it.

Wow, if the power point is the big problem with your truck --- You're in great shape

Run down to Wally world and spend about $3 for a 12v pigtail... DOUBLES your power points in about 2 seconds !!!!

Good to hear your great report !

Not a problem just a detail/convenience thing thing. Went one better and picked up the stuff to hardwire in an inverter. Kids can plug in their laptops and run forever. Better than a built in dvd player. No fighting over what to watch and they might even use them for educational purposes (ok, that is asking alot) This is a great truck to travel in.

I think the 17.5 is average. That is what mine gets at 80 mph. It doesn't seem to matter 2X4 or 4X4.
