I'm looking for a type of stool I've seen in the past but can't find one and don't recall if there was a type name for them.
They were like a bar stool but they flared at the bottom and had a metal cover/ring that was above the wheels. When you sat on it the metal ring above the wheels went to the floor and the chair wouldn't roll. When you weren't sitting on the stool you could roll it around. The seat was padded and swiveled.
I think i recall seeing them when I worked on a factory machine shop floor back in the 80s in Rochester, NY. Haven't see one since.
Anyone ever see anthing like this on the Web, in catalogs, for sale anywhere?
I know what you are talking about, but haven't been able to locate one. They use shorter versions of this in libraries, once you step or sit on them they lower to the floor so you don't fall off of them. I will keep you in mind as I look around.
