C-6 Rebuild
Would anyone have some good ideas to beef-up my C-6 while swapping the drive trains?
Old '77 F-250 was 351M with 3:31 Dana and ran real well with duals, Holley and steel timing gears. Rust got the cab and hood after 37 years and one resto in 1992,
New truck is '78 Camper Special with spun bearing on the 460 and Dana with 3.07 ratio, possibly limited slip, 22A on data plate.
Going nodular bands from '70 Galaxy 390 C-6, that servo, Kevlar clutches, and good converter from A-1. Just a Home Depot vehicle and maybe some towing. Do not need to chirp the tires which are 33" may go to 31.5" as I thought they were big on the '77 F-250.
May add EOD 1st and 2nd gear?
New motor is 351M, rebuilt in CA, hope its knock-free on the lower-end?
Would like to do it once, trans was hard to take-out on my back and on the deck.

I would add some clutch discs to 3rd gear. It is a minor mod that most competent trans shops can do. Cut a snap ring groove farther out on the drum and put 9 clutches instead of 4-5-6 that is stock. I used to drag race trucks with built 390's and I would always burn 3rd until I made this mod. It firms up the shift under load substantially also.
