ok so where is the egr located???so i will get even more black smoke by doing this?? i lov the smoke i run the edge!!!
I believe you are gettting EGT confused with EGR
EGT is exhaust gas temperature...
EGR is exhaust gas recirculation...check the "EGR Disconnection" thread for more info on that...it won't really contribute any more visible smoke though...
The computer relies on that reading for lots and lots of fueling information...im not so sure that it would even run at all, besides a sick little idle, if you did that...maybe someone else can jump in here.
I hope it is possible though
I have a ford shop repair manual and you wouldn't believe the strategy of PCM of our trucks.
If your pulling a hill and the truck starts to over heat the PCM will drop cylinders to cool the engine.
Wow. I would have never believed that until I just checked the shop manuals myself. I believe I found it in a subset of the "Electrical Distribution" section of the manual...
where does one download the 04 shop manuals? The paper ones would be fine, but I keep a laptop in the garage just for such things..an electronic version would be great.

As far as I know you have to have access through FMCDealer (Ford Dealer Employee Account) as I and cdtruckin do...
You can buy the entire set of shop manuals from a dealer, however they will run you about 300 bucks...
You can get them on DVD from flatratetech.com for a $50 donation. They are the "timed out" version of what they get every month. Or you can go to motorcraft.com and subscribe for a day month or year and I think you can download from there.

Thanks for the pointer. I just subscribed for a year - it's only $99, and the garage terminal has internet access, so I'm good to go.
Oopcenter, can you download the manuals? It is worth the subscription fee if you can download. I have broadband and a DVD writer so that would be nice.

We're about to head out for the afternoon...I will check in the morining tomorrow and post here and/or send you a PM and let ya know.
I was looking on the net and saw headers listed for the 7.3. Did not show a pic but the price was $475, wonder if these are headers and whether they could make them for the 6.0L?
It was here vehicle-boating-supplies.com under the Ford headers.

Do you think those headers were for a 7.3 in a boat? Or were they for a truck?
Headers will make HP if you can make them live W/O burning out.
