Brand new 8/12/04, F-350 and can't get the drivers door to close tight without slamming hard. Dealer having a terrific problem making the adjustment. Been at the dealer for two days now. I am not going to accept delivery until its fixed. Anyone have any ideas. Dealer says they have ordered parts but don't need now, and have adjusted the striker plate numberous times. Dealer claims the rubber is new and need to be broken in. I say the passenger door works fine as do other new cars and trucks on their showroom floor, so please fix mine or just keep it.
Thx for the info, Today Sat. 8/14/04 ,the dealers Gen. Sales Mgr. promised to have it looked at over at the body shop ( a contractor) on monday 8/16/04,, we'll see. The Maint. super. said on this past Friday to the GSM that "it was adjusted as much as they could do". The Gen. Mgr. said to the GSM "that's it! sell it to someone else, and give him his deposit back." Right friendly folk here at "Friendly Ford" of San Jose, CA wouldn't you say. And they really messed up the "star" bolt in the process by using a flat screwdriver.
Those of you who are used to just jumping into the drivers seat, shutting the door, and taking off, would be surprised at how much of a problem it is to have to re-shut the door each time by slamming it. Oh yes one can slam it on the first attempt but not always that easy, try doing that a few times and you'll see. Worse when you have to remind the passangers every time to slam the door. So why can't Ford put their cars and trucks together right the first time like the cars and trucks made by the Japanease, or the Koreans. "Ford Quality is Job One." is a big lie as far as I'm concerned.
When I bought my 2001 crewcab, the front passenger door wasn't closing tight. You could see the difference from the outside, as the top of the door wasn't flush with the body. Took it back & they tried all the adjustments they could think of, without success. Finally, they had the biggest guy in the shop just pull on the top of the door to bend the whole thing in a bit. Worked like a charm.
