Ok, I'm new here, and have been trying to absorb alot in the last few days. I just received a new Summit racing catalog and after purusing it I am curious about ignition systems. Is MSD the way to go, and for a daily driver/weekend truck puller, what is the recommended setup?
Pretty much anything MSD makes will give you excellent service. For a daily driver, though, the factory ignition system is hard to beat. A quality rebuilt Ford brand distributor with a Duraspark box driving it is about as solid and reliable as it gets.
If it's a stock style or mild street rebuild, stick with the Duraspark. It's cheap and it works very, very well. For something a little on the wilder side, get whatever tickles your fancy and doesn't bankrupt you. A Mallory Unilite is hard to beat in the value department for a hot street ignition system. MSD is always a good choice.

This is the basic setup I am going to go with, but I am going to port and polish the heads and add roller rockers, and go for about 9.5:1 compression. Which MSD setup did you go with and what lead you to go with it?
i had one years ago on a 79 f350 4x4 tillit was stolen . just have the 6a which does a good job in process of swapping out mt d3's for some ported dove's and about 10.1 cr with x4270 comp cam
