I have an 87 Ford ranger, 2.9 five speed four wheel drive. It has a clutch problem, and I don't have much experience with it, due to the fact I'm only 16. It doesn't make any noises or anything, but, it won't drive. It'll start, and runs awesome, but, I can put the truck in gear, running, with no clutch, and go nowhere at all. ....help?
I know this maybe hard to beleave but I lost a drive shaft once and never knew it!!! I thought I had lost the clutch, didn't discover the drive shaft was gone until I had it towed home and put it up on jack stands, never did find the shaft.

Ok, The tranfer case would be a good idea, but, I have a push button four wheel drive. I did check the drive shaft though, lol, and it's there. To be a bit more specific, its as if somebody just took all the torque from my tranny. I can put the truck in gear, running, without pushing in the clutch....it acts like I'm holding in the clutch at all times.
Hmmmmn.......Jack up the rear wheels and see if you can turn the driveshaft. If you can, it has to be in neutral. I don't know how the push button system works.
Alright, I'll try that, and get back to you tomarrow. The push button's a pain in the ... I'll try that, though. All you have to do for the push button...is push a button, lol. But half the time, it doesn't engage. To engage it, I push the button, it attempts to engage it, but fails, so I push it again to turn it off. I drive forward, oh, ten feet, and do it again. Repeat untill both front wheels are engaged. Yea, like I said, a pain.
