Pulling the motor?
I finally got everything dialed in on the 360 to where I was happy with the reliability. But Yesterday I started noticing what sounded like a rod knock.
I pulled the belts off the front and sound was still there. I haven't pulled each sparkplug wire individually to test for rod sound but I am 99% positive a rod is going.
I found a 390 with tranny for a good price and want to see what is the best way to pull the old motor with Headers?
I am at work so I can't study the engine bay right now but should the motor pull with the headers attached? or unbolt the headers and leave attached to the exhaust? or pull the headers off both and pull them out of the way as the motor/tranny comes out?
I figured I would throw the question out there to prep for the weekend project.
Oh this is in a 1970 F-250
Any help would be greatful.
Thanks, Ken
So i would say to unbolt the headers before you pull er, so you dont ding or dent or wreck them if oyu plan to reuse.
Thats my opinion anyway, my truck is a 78 1/2 ton so maybe your 70 3/4 is a bit roomier,?
