Does anybody know a good way to remove or paint the faded black trim below the windows,I tried this new bondo black again product but it looks horrible.I can see brush strokes on the trim even though i used a sponge.Very dissapointed with the results.
I followed a thread on another board several years ago. The guys were, (a) rubbing silicone into the rubber or (b) replacing with the chrome strips found on Navi's.
Mine were faded badly also. I bought some Mothers back to black trim dressing. I applied 2 coats then waited a week and then applied 2 more. I used quite a bit on the moldings and didn't really rub it in. I let it sit there and soak in then buffed it lightly with a soft towel. Now they look great and I apply it about every 2 months after I wash the truck.
Guys, thanks for the suggestions they are greatly appreciated, does anyone know what that trim piece is called?I want to remove the trim and paint it with it off the vehicle.Any tips before i jump into this
Just as an FYI I used Mother's Back to Black this weekend on the trim on my 99. It makes a huge difference. The trim on mine had never been treated, so it was starting to look bad. I used 2 coats and and buffed with a towel. I'll have to wait to see how long it lasts.
