96 Explorer XLT clunks into gears
Hello all, my 96 Explorer has been "clunking" into gear. I am beginning to believe something is out of wack in the rear. It seems like it does it more if it is shifting when going down a hill. You not only hear it but you can feel it, and if you sit in the back it seems more audible. Anyone got any ideas?

Take it to any repair shop for a free inspection. Most likely it's your u-joints in the drive shaft. It could possibly be in your differential, but it's probably your joints. Which ever it is, it shouldn't be too hard to fix.

Gotta make up for those free inspections somehow..lol. I already worked up the u-joints they all appear to be normal, play is definitely not there. This is my only daily vehicle and I dont want to go guessing and ripping stuff apart, but if worse comes to worst i may just take up your reccomendation. Thanks anyways.
