Well I have almost always agreed with that statement, but here lately I bet I can find about a dozen guys that will disagree with ya, had a 351C in my race truck to start the season, and it ran pretty good, but spun a rod bearing all I had around was a 302C crank, and rods so had them balanced, and put into the engine with no other changes except to mill the heads again for surface, took it out two weeks ago, and I am running faster, so lost 50CI, and got faster go figure

That's because you milled the heads.

i personally love my 460 it has been very good to me when it comes to smoking ricers it does alright on gas too 10 mpg (city) is not too bad with an engine of that size.

for trucks i want something huge. i got a 5.4 now but i would really want a diesel in my 150. 5-6 liters is good for trucks though anymore and its just a waste unless you got some towing or have something like the 650 supercrewzer.
love inline 6s. i think something around a 3.5 to 4.0 inline 6 with a turbo. the toyota supras 3.0 can put out over 1000 horses. i just like the inline because i love bmws and thats their trademark engine. the m3s current 3.3 with 333 HP and the older m5s with the 340 HP from the 3.5 were easily tuneable to get a lot more power but still remaining smooth and its huge powerband.

and the displacement vs. car size thing is true my bmw only has a 2.5 and its a 5 series so it has a lot of weight to push around, off the line it takes a lot to gain momentum and gets bad intown gas mileage.

hondas suck you gotta rev the engines so much to get any power and they do have a lack of torque. put a couple full size men in that compact car and see how fast it will go.

I enjoy driving small, high rev engines in small cars, with a stick ofcourse. I think driving a big engine muscle car is even more fun. I like the idea of small engine daily drivers. Still, I think a nice 4x4 turbo diesel w/ propane is a serious ride.

I ran a 302 in my race car, had no problems running with (and ahead of) those 350 Chevys. I toyed with the idea of running a Cleveland block with the 302 crank, but I didn't want the extra frontend weight, due to our engine setback rules. The 302 has less reciprocating weight than the 351, and can rev quicker and higher (Using stock parts). I doubt that doing a cleanup cut on the heads would remove enough material to make a significant change in compression/power. If you switched to the 302 block, but retained the Cleveland heads, you could loose some frontend weight as well. -TD

except this is a 302 Cleveland, not a 302w crank in a cleveland block, uses my 351c pistons, with an Aussie 302c crank, nad 6.03 long rods, this was a actual engine built by ford in Australia. so I don't think it has any less reciprocating weight, plus I already have the intake, and getting a clevor intake is expensive not that the funnelweb I have was cheap, besides it's fun have a the only one around

Aha! Now that make a bit more sense. So what crank were you running before, the one that spun? Stock 351C crank?

yea that was a stock 351c crank before, I had bought the 302 crank and was going to use the rods to make a long rod 351c, but never did so it was just sitting around, and I needed ot get it back to together so took it up, and had it redone, and balanced.

Cool! I always liked to run something that no one else had, that's one reason I raced a Ford, I was the only one in my division. Plus, I'm a Ford man anyway, so it was race a Ford, or don't race at all. -TD
