well i guess ill be jumping from here to the 70's forum. check out my gallery and see if $500.00 was worth this 78 f-150 4x4 with a 400, 4bbl intake with a 4 bbl holley. needs new bearings but the pan is so high im going to roll them in from underneath.
either the intake is aftermarket or (off an older moter) or you got an older moter they didnt put 4bbls on the 400 (or 351m) but 2-3 years in the early 70s
and i am not sure but im allmost positive you will have to pull the motor to put in bearings becouse of the crossmember being in the way you wont be able to dropp it very far
to pull one of them moters 3hrs out 3 hours in (quicker the more times you do it , for me it would be about an hour and a half ,did it about 5 times in an 80 f150 then finally tore the tranny up and sold it )
pulled it in last night and crawled up underneath. dropped the pan and got the bearings out. 2 sets were chewed up pretty bad.will replace the oil pump and screen today.this truck is so high that working under it was a snap. ill have pics posted tonight on the bearings removal. and yes carb and intake is aftermarket.ill have pics of the drivetrain also, was too dark to really look at it.will have to weld a piece of the bed thats broke but the frame seems sound. anyway i have a 302 that i rebuilt 4 months ago with a bellhousing, clutch and pressure plate. i may drop that in it and put the 400 in my falcon. i dont know yet.
