The Check engine light has come on in my explorer, so I scanned it with a actron scanner and I got a code 1400, which of course is not in thier book as a standard code. Maybe I am a very confused man and read the scanner wrong, but i reproduced the code 3 times, by reseting the code and then driving around until light comes back on, and checking again. Is this a code only ford uses? I did some research on net and found 2 possible suspects for code, EGR Problem(i didn't think the 96 explorer had a egr valve), and something about traction control.
Any help would be great. Thanks

A P1400 refers to "EGR EVP or DPFE Sensor Circuit Low Voltage Detected". If the '96 doesn't have an EGR valve, I would look at the DPFE sensor. It is a differential pressure sensor. On my '97 it is a small black box about the size of a book of matches with two rubber hoses connected to it. If I remember correctly it is bolted to the outside of my driver's side valve cover (or in that vacinity).
