Ok reguardless of weather 10, 20, 100, or 10,000 were made Thunderbolts were from the 60's which makes it Muscle in my book. Its not my fault Chevy didnt produce anything like Dodge and Ford did. And yes the LS6 was "rated" at 450 hp, while 426's and 427's were rated at 425, but ive never seen an Ls6 blow either of the two off the road, track, etc. We know the Hemi and 427 was under rated. As far as the Cobra out running a Viper on the 1/4, I have saw it more than once, and maybe it was the driver or maybe not, the point i was making is that it impresses me when 60's technology can compete with ours today even if it is in a straight line. Im also curious is to why some guy adds 427 SOHC in any conversation people automatically scream "non production, end of discussion." Funny that there are Galxies out there with 427 SOHC's and they are street legal. O well Ill leave the SOHC to another thread were it can be discussed properly without biased info, but lets replace the SOHC with the 427 High Riser, which was production and would easily run circles around the o so mighty Ls6. The medium riser would probably do the same. Im not trying to start anything here but like Ringo said, its "Chevelle this and LS6 that" and like the new Hemi hype it gets old after awhile. Im sure all this pro Ford talk gets old to some of you guys out there, but this is a Ford board so you cant expect us to sit here and talk about nothing. So if i offended you or your Chebbie im sorry.

The Muscle Car Shootout is on the Speed Channel again 5:00 pm,(est) Aug 13 th, (tomorrow)for those that want to tape it or see it again,,,I am watching it again,,it's great to see and hear all of those sweet rides hammer down.
Hope you all get to see it !
And too Who Ever It May Concern: I fully expected the Chevelle or the Hemi to be the top dog,,,,But I guess Ford made some HP when they wanted,, Thing with Ford is they realisticly rated HP...Chevy rates there HP at the high end,,now they gotta prove it and well it did'nt happen on this show !
Boss 429 rated at 375 HP, beat a 450 HP Chevelle,,, there ya go !
It was based on a points scoring system,, the Chevelle and the Mustang were even,,,until the Burnout,,,He dumped the clutch on the Boss at 5,000 rpm,,in 2nd gear man did that Boss sound great,,I think it had 31 gear in it. ,, Just listen to his comment at the end of the Boss burnrun! He was awstruck with laughter on how it did.
All theses cars came from I think " Ledgendary Motorsports" some collector I guess.

Believe this or not, but in 1983 I had a 429 SCJ Torino with about 90,000 miles. It was a 4-speed and 3.91 geared car. A buddy had an LS6 Chevelle with a 4 speed and a 4.10 rear and about the same mileage. These two cars were always neck and neck. I have no clue what the Chevelle had done to it, but the guy claimed the heads were ported and a hot ignition and had "500 HP" for a licence plate. I had tinkered with my 429 a "bit".
It really ticked him off that he couldn't eat my Torino. I probably lost more than I won; but he knew that Torino was lurking. He would no longer race me when I added that new fangled stuff called nitrous (this was 1983 folks).
Alas, that was the demise of the 429...7300 rpms are not good for that particular motor. That is what happens when the shifter hangs up between 3rd and 4th and you don't lift.

Oh and the 69' Hurst Oldsmobile with the 455 HO beat the Chevelle also in the 1/4 olds 13.82 at 101 mph Chevelle 13.95 at 98.8 mph,,, Now the thing is I am pretty sure the Olds was an Auto,,,did they make Hurst Olds with auto's ? I thought they were 4-spd.
Oh the boss was 13.74 at 101.1 mph, Just the info I wrote down during the show.

No one is at fault...Actually check on the year of 1969 and Chevy built two of the baddest musclecars. They are the most sought after and nearly the highest price when at auction today. 1969 Camaro ZL1 of which 69 were built and the 1969 Corvette ZL1 which 9 were built. Chevy re released the ZL1 last year. It was built to '69 specs, all aluminum block & heads and was dynoed at 675 crank horsepower. Not too shabby 'eh. So read and research a little more before you type with your FORD blinders on!

Well im glad for chevy, now can I ask for 1/4 mile times, performance stats, etc on a serious level here or does wearing those cool "FORD blinders" put me with 98% of every one else on this forum and not allow me to see into the secret world of Chevy? Btw i think I look good in them , much better than I do in the Chebbie ones

T bolts were not production cars, they were factory drag cars. They ran 11.6 per the magazine mentioned in the other post. They also list a B/FX '63 F100 running 12.72 @ 108 courtesy of an 8V 427.
Lots of variation in how these cars ran in the day. As for street performance, all you have to have is paint line or manhole cover in your lane and the differences are pretty much washed out.
Sure would like a T bolt though....

These times seem pretty slow to me. I have magazines where they get 12.9 from 440 road runners(stock for stock, the 440 was faster in a drag than a hemi), and 12's from LS6 chevelle manual trans cars.
E150six, I bet an sti is even faster than a 13.8, cause an srt4 neon can hit 13.9, and an STI is fatsr than that.
