Oil flow path in an FE

Just wanted to know what flow path of the oil from the pump back to the oil pan. The shop may have put the cam bearings in upside down . At least that is what I'm being told. Should the oil holes in the cam bearings be at the top or the bottom?

I had started another thread on this motor "water in #4 cyl." . The more I get into this motor, the more I am finding wrong with it. I've been doing everything with it in the truck but got tired of working over the fenders so I just pulled it out of the truck today, tore it all the way down, and I'm starting all over.
The block is a C6ME-A ?, The heads are D2TEAA ?, the intake is a C6AE 9423-G ?

The front cam bearing should have the hole on the bottom. The other four should have oil holes on the top AND the bottom. In a stock hydraulic lifter FE, oil flows from the pump, to the filter, to the front cam bearing, to the top oil gallery. It does not go through the front cam bearing to the top oil gallery, the front cam and main bearins simply tap off of the passage. From the top oil gallery, the oil goes down to the cam bearing, through the cam bearing, to the mains, and out to the rods. Also from the top oil gallery, oil goes out to the two lifter gallerys. In addition, the two cam bearings on either side of the middle one, will have a THIRD oil hole on one side. This goes up to feed the rocker shafts. From there the oil goes through the rocker shafts, out to the rockers, through the rockers, out to the pushrod ends. Then it flows back down through the lifter valley back down to the pan.

If thats the case then the flippen shop put all of them in wrong. The holes are on the bottom only in all but the rear one, which is on top only. And the front one has one in the bottom and another one about 45 degrees to one side which has it pushing oil to the bolt hole for the screw that holds the plate in front of the cam .

How about the two barrel intake, does it block the two rear water ports in the heads like the 4 barrel intake does?

One more question,at least for now , What is the porpose of the exhaust cross over ports in the 4 barrel intake? Was this some sort of smog thing?

Thanks in advance for all the good info.

That exhaust crossover sytem that Ford used to help warm up the engine faster. The 2b intakes also have them. The way it works is this. There is a heatriser valve on the driver side maniflod. When its cold it closes and the exhaust goes up throguh the intake manifold and warms up the intake and stuff. I am missing some steps here but this is basically how it works. Ford ended this setup after a few years because it was rather ineffective and kinda pointless since they warmed up plenty fast anyway.

Thanks for all the info.

Are there oil grooves cut into the block behind the cam bearings so the oil can also go around the cam bearings to get to the mains and heads??
