It's shock time for my old 91 F250, 7.3. Im leaning towards Bilstein 5100's to level out the pot holes and bumps on my ride. I mainly use my rig for towing. What are you running for shocks and are you happy with them? How long did they last or are they still good?
I just put new Bilstein B461617F552 High Pressure Nitrogen Gas Filled Shocks on the front and new Bilstein B461618F552 High Pressure Nitrogen Gas Filled Shocks on the rear of my 1989 F-250 4WD and am not happy. I removed still serviceable Monroe ® Sensa-Trac ® Load Adjusting Shock Absorbers with "Road Sensing" Technology and I'm going to put them back on. I rarely ride with a full load and the Bilsteins are way too stiff and designed for a fully loaded truck! I'm going to sell the Bilsteins with only 400 miles on them.
In as much as I've used Bilsteins for over 20 years plus on my Jeep Grand Cherokees and BMW 325 and liked them I thought they would be the way to go. I talked my brother into putting them on his 1 ton that he owns and he took them off as being too stiff. He replaced them with Rancho 9000 Adjustable Shocks just like the shocks that came with his new 2004 F-250 and he is happy with them.
I don't know the difference between the Bilstein 5100s and the ones listed above that are for a 4WD F-250 with front leaf springs but be forewarned!
Good luck!

How did the Bilsteins work with a loaded truck? Were you happy with the Monroes when loaded? My truck is mainly used for towing my rockcrawler, probably about 6500lbs, that's my target. I'm not sure if those are the same Bilsteins or not as the 5100. Let me know what you want for them if I decide to go that way.
The Bilsteins are too stiff feeling every imperfection on the highway and the Monroes were a little soft. The Rancho 9000 adjustable shocks might be something to look at. Regarding how much I want for the Bilsteins I haven't even thought about it yet but I'd make them worth your while if they fit your truck.

I got the bilsteins on my 92 f250 4x4. They are a stiff ride but i do a lot of off roading and heavy towing. I have had over 5,000 lbs of retaining wall blocks in the bed with no problem.
