It's weird...my driving music for road trips is stuff I wouldn't really listen to at any other time. Good old 70's and 80's rock like Neil Young, Tom Petty, Rolling Stones. Techno trance songs can also make for some interesting driving music.
My driving music would depend on where I am driving to....
If I am going out to party.. then NIN, TOOL, Techno all my hard core stuff..
If I am in some part of the country that is beautiful or deserves some sort of reverence, I have music just for that..
It usually is Dead Can Dance, Lisa Gerrard, Enigma, Afro Celt Sound System, Nusrat Fateh Ali Kahn, and tons of other world type music...
I am a very visual person and often I can put music to anything I see... I have made cds to match my moods.. I have a cd mix I made of all the songs that remind me of my husband
My cd collection is well over 1000 and it has every type of music!
So a lot of thought goes into what I bring on a road trip.. The husband almost always enjoys what I put on.. except when I listen to Leonard Cohen or Nick Cave
3 Days Grace, Metallica, Stained, NIN, Tool, Disturbed, Kidd Rock, Slip knot, Mudvayne, Sabbath, Ozzy, Trance, Jungle, basically anything that makes its way into my cd player.
