I just installed "Predator" in my 0/3 F350; what a difference!! Currently I am running the 65hp module but will likely convert to tow mode several times a year.
After the new program was installed the tranny went through a period of hard shifting. (In accordance with the directions this is normal.) After the requisite number of cold starts, however, the tranny now shifts great.
Question..... will changing these modules frequently have an adverse impact on the trannsmission?? Long Term-Short term??
I used the 65HP mode, but I had to keep changing back to tow mode because I tow 10k lbs quite often. I had the same concerns as you, so now I just leave the tow mode installed and don't worry about it.
The 65HP is definitely a step up in performance. The problem is that my foot seems to take all the mpg gain I would have had. The tow mode works well for me, and is still an improvement over stock.
An example is when I am on a return trip to Pismo, I have to climb Questa grade. Stock, my truck pulls the trailer about 50 mph, but with the tow program, it pulls 55 at about 1/4 throttle. BIG difference!
It all depends on what you want. I am more concerned about increased performance AND towing.
