Does anyone know what the following codes REALLY MEAN? I know what they stand for but I just bought this truck and the OD light started flashing so I took it into the Ford Dealer and they said they needed to go inside the tranny to figure out what really was going on with the codes below. Also is this is any sign of what it to come (tranny problems that is).
P0732
P0733
P0603
P0781 It is covered under warranty so I should be good for another couple of months.
these are all shift solenoid codes .failure to detect rpm changes after shift,
can be cause by a faulty solenoid ,wirings issues within the tranny ,stuck valves, actuators, dirty transmission fluid.
your transmision shifts are done the pcm ,when the sensors don't detect or are faulty also these codes appear .
The will need to connect their diag tools to your vehicle and shift it while on a lift .they can do this by their computer through the OBDII port. They need to pull the pan and chk wiring to the solenoids.
I just went through this with my 97. Overdrive light flashing. The dealer said the same thing, something inside set the code. I took the truck to our trusted trans guy and he test drove it. A sticky valve seems to be my problem. I have 305,000 km's on the original trans so he added a bottle of stuff that unslips sticky vaves. I still know it slips the odd time when the trans is cold but as soon as the fluid heats up to normal temps my problem goes away. Unfortunatly I know whats ahead for me and thats a rebuild but this guy says he can beef up the inside to give me a tranny that will love the torque these trucks put out so I will be doing some internal work soon to my truck. If your under warrenty get it in while its free, you dont want them coming up with a excuse why you have to pay.
Just talked to the folks at the Ford dealership and they said the tranny needs to be overhauled or replaced all together. That is with 44K miles on it. What a pile.
well, that is fords fix to any tranny problems. I would take it to a tranny guy next time, probably just a selonoid, not trying to knock ford, but they need to train their tranny guys a little better.
