Hello GuRu's,
I recently acquired a beat up, but running '65 F100. Somebody once cared for it because they put on Edelbrock carb, manifold, headers and even switched the granny gear 3 on the tree for a top loader 4-speed. My mission was to make a good lookin' truck to haul a boat. A friend came up to me that has a '68 that I can pick up for $500, and all it is missing is the engine. I figure that I could make a couple $100 off of my 4-speed and just swap engines. Will my 352 block be a direct replacement into the '68?
I thought about that to. The paint isn't bad and there isn't hardly anything wrong with the body. the guys got the auto tranny, and flowmasters, plus some billet stuff and did some front end work and air ride. Beats the heck outta my rusted through and primered long bed with no interior!
Your 352 will be a direct replacement if the 68 had a 360 in the engine bay. The 68 will have the same "Y" engine designation in the VIN number (FxxY).
Just a decent looking Ford to tow a boat, I'd do the engine swap. Part the 65, if the core support is good (not likley) it would be worth 3-4 hundred bucks. Doors, 50 bucks each and so on. Parting a truck takes time so you will need a place to park it.
IMHO!
Hey anybody need some parts for a '65 F100? haha. Thanks for the advice, looks like I'll be on Ebay for awhile. I'd rather part it out to people that could use it instead of scraping the thing. The bed is rusted through, but the rest of the truck is pretty straight, I think it just sat for awhile with water in the back. Any ways, I'm sure I'll be on here asking for help with a '68 soon enough!
Great idea. Thanks for the heads-up. I placed the add, but it only lets me add one picture. If anybody wants more pics or wants a pic of a certain item, just drop me a line and I'll make it happen.
