Motor Swap
Ive got a 79 f-150 with a 302 and a toploader 4 speed. My motor just crapped out! I got a 1988 crown vic with a 302 automatic. what i want to know is, can i use the newer 302 with the 4 speed already in the truck?
my old motor has the dipatick in the front of the block and the 88 motor has it in the rear. thanks

Also, put a pilot bushing in the back of the crank to support the input shaft. I would think the oil pan from the car would work, clearance isn't an issue, I don't think, but look to be sure you won't run into a bind with anything back there, as the rear sump is the only clearance concern. Been a while since I looked at a 2wd chassis, not sure on the clearance issue.
