Well, duck season is quickly aproaching, and I am new to the valley area. Are there any good places kinda near (no more than 100 miles from Mesa) to go duck hunting? Would I be correct to assume that I will need to go farther north until later in the season?
The only duck hunting I have done was in the SE part of the state over by Willcox. Sandhill cranes as well, but it has been a few years. Mostly we jump shot ducks off cattle tanks. Probably not even close to what your used to guy. Have been up in the white mountains during the season and saw people shooting over the lakes up there. Also up by Flagstaff in the Williams area there are a couple of lakes and numerous tanks. I remember seeing duck hunters up there one year scouting for deer and shooting squirrels.
actualy, there wasn't much for duck hunting up there last year, there was enough to keep me interested but I only got like 10 or 12 the whole season, and that was going out atleast 3 days a week, sometimes twice a day. There was one awesome morning though, we got our bag limit (and accidently a few more) in about 15 minutes... man that was awesome.
I tell ya what I need to find. A good dove huting spot without 2 million ppl shooting over it. Seems like the days of going out without having to worry about getting hit are over. My sons love to shoot though. I am in the Tucson area so any assistance would be awesome.
