My 90 Aerostar, 4.0l, has developed a very nagging problem. After the engine is fully warmed up, too often when we stop and put it in park, the idle goes way to high and stays there.
I am used to a problem like this being stuck linkage, but I have cleaned and lubbed everything and pulling on the linkage does not change the problem.
Other than this, the engine is running fine. Have replaced virtually everything in the electrical circuit over the last year and a half. (Plugs, wires, O2, Alt, Mass Flow, etc..)
Any thoughts on this problem would be appreciatted.

Might not be the same but my 93 did that and it was the IAC. Mine is a 3.0 not the same but close might be the same problem though. If it full of carbon they mess up.
