Anyone ever try that "chrome" paint in the spray can? Is it all it's cracked up to be? I'm thinking of doing the rear bumper just for the heck of it. Does it need a clear coat over it?
the best chrome paint i ahve ever saw that really works and its what the car and truck manufactures use is from alsa their website is alsacorp.com. they even have some candy colors that you can paint over the chrome so you can have the blue chrome look or whatever color you might choose.
yeah, but if you dont want the getto look then its the way to go. i am actually considering buying that paint from them that changes colors with the heat and light. that would be cool to paint some graphics with.
I currently have that dull gray Ford bumper on back. Since it is bent up I figure I would try something a little different. Hopefully I'll find a nice chrome bumper sooner or later. Anyone use that Rustoleum Grip and Guard? I was thinking of using black on the top of the bumper.
I did the chrome paint last night and it looked good. Then, after it dried I sprayed clear coat on and now it looks horrible. All the motions (back and forth, and stops) of the clear coat are visible. I'm using Duplicolor products in the aerosol-type cans.
1. How can I fix this?
2. Can I just lightly sand the clear coat with a high grit sand paper and put another layer of chrome over the top?
3. Should I even be using clear coat?
4. If I can use clear coat, is there a way to get it on evenly?
That chrome paint sucks. It's only shiny for a few minutes and only on a perfectly smooth hard surface. After it dries it will still wipe off. I did some wheels and had to keep painting them because they would dull really fast. Definately gehtto. Silver looks alot better and holds up.
