Six rounds bought and I bought five ...

Out the parts I have I looking for the best combo. What I have now is
A 1971 short bed with a stock 360 2-v,c-6 and a 300 gear in the rear. Now what I have is stock, low mileage, 1966 390 4-v (750 Holley) out a Galaxie . Also have a 370 rear end .What I looking for is at most low end torque I can bolt together from what I have . This would be a over the winter project.

Drop in the 390 and the 3.70 gears (assuming the axle is a match). Voila, that's the best torque and Hp you're gonna get from that stuff. you might get the torque to peak at a lower RPM using the smaller intake/carb, but I think the max torque would still be less than running the 390 as is. And the 3.70 gears will help offset and shift up in the RPM your torque peaks.

Now, if I misunderstood your question, and you want upgrade suggestions. Let us know more about your objectives and budget.

Yes ,you understood my ill worded question properly. Now I do need to obtain a carb for one intake or the other . So what I was thinking either put the 390 4-v in and go with about a 600 cfm with vac . secondaries or put the 390 in and the 2-v and a holley 500 cfm. Once again looking for the most low end Truck for the least low end Buck... Dang me.

I don't think you'll lose any noticeable torque with the 4v setup. You'll probbaly make more torque. You'll certainly make more HP and if you keep your foot out of the floor you might see better mileage.

Well with that being the case, 4-v set-up looks like a win /win . Thanks for the replies.
