They are going to keep going up until the political situation in Israel and the middle east settle down. We are going to be paying $2+ for gas by summer I'm afraid. Then we'll be wishing those 427-8s and 460s were sixes. Hate to sound so optumistic.
Crude prices have only increased about $5 a barrel in the past few months. That would add about 2¢ per gallon. There is no shortage.
The refineries are using the summer additives as an excuse to rape us, over and above the upcoming summer vacation season. Two years ago, it was the winter additives. They always find some reason to fatten their wallets, and no one will buck them, 'cause many politicians are in bed with the oil companies.
Gas was about $1.05 here in somewhat southern MD 2 months ago. It is now $1.39. In southern MD, I paid $1.31 for 87 octane yesterday.
What curdles my milk is, they raise prices on the gas that is already in the ground. I went by a station a couple of weeks ago, and the price went up 5¢ a gallon by the time I came back by there. It was a matter of 15 minutes, and no tanker was there unloading either.
Our gas prices went up about .25 in past month. We are paying 1.19 for 87 octane today. It will go up a little more for summer drivers I'm afraid. Oh well, I guess if it goes to high I can stay home for the summer and get time to put in new engine I built in my Ford.
