but the M stands for nothing according to in era reports from ford but what do they know it stands for either magic/marvolous or mud depending on the day and engine
actually the 351m was a different block compared to the 351w
i believe it was the deck height and some other things but it is just like the early 400 block and not quite the same as the 351c
geez the same engine family as the 351C so same basic design(not unlike the 302/351W)
the deck height was well is 1.2 inches taller than a 351c
in other w 10.297 inches(same block as 400) from crank ceterline to the deck(reads as BIG) a 302/351w piston will fit in the engine or a 351c but won't work too well
but the lifter(non-roller block) and main bearings are 100% interchangeable but thats bout it between the 351m/400 and 351W
pre 76 mains are full grove post 77 1/2 grove
