any help appreciated

i have a 91 grand marquis and im trying to put in a cd player without getting charged 90$ for installation. i have put in the wiring harness and everything seems to have gone good except there are 2 extra orange wires from the wiring harness. they say illumination and dimmer. there is also an extra wire coming from the car with a small square connector. they said i had everything i needed. the cd player doesnt work as is. any help???

Is the deck grounded? That can cause it to not work if it is not grounded.

i got it figured out now, the guy at circuit city gave me the wrong harness so the amp on the car was not wired in
