FUEL BOX/ Micro Programmer

Does anyone know the differance between the tuning on them. I understand how they work and what they do but all the peramiters that are controled i have no idea. I have both the edge and the predator. The edge by far gives more hp and tq and it also changes the tone of the exhaust. When its on the highest setting it gets deep and loud. With the Predator I dont see any change in the exhaust sound.
Do they some how control the valves and have them open up more or is it just the huge fuel amounts making it sound different.

Just a lot of fuel for the Edge. The Predator modifies injector pulse timing and width.

Any test on the edge to see what the real rear wheel hp and torque is ?
or is this just the ole butt-o-meter talkin' ?

The old butt-o-meter is a huge difference between the SCMT and Edge. With the Edge module in mine it feels like my SCMT and water injection together with washer fluid. Much faster. The Edge builds its torque earlier than the SCMT and seems to hold it better to shift point. The only advantage of the SCMT is the raised shift points. I have found the best performance so far with the SCMT on Economy mode (120 Horse, or 60, whatever you want to call it) and the Edge on 3. You can bump the Edge up to 5 for a extra kick in the pants but the EGT's hit 1500 real fast. I have been running the SCMT on Econo with the Edge on 2 or 3 for the past week and it runs and shifts GREAT.

Ill give some more details on the Edge if anyone would like...when I'm not sitting in Drafting class I'm supposed to be on AutoCAD right now

PSD - sounds like your back up to speed. I'm going to get the Edge/Attitude this week. The new version 1.63 is supposed to shift much better, is that the one you are running? Does the Edge improve mileage like the tuners(if you can keep your foot out of it)? Whats your gereral impression of the Edge. Thanks, good to see ya back running.

Yes, I have the 1.63 Version. The shifting is great with or without the SCMT with the Edge installed. Its not as "smooth" as the Superchips, however it is firmer and certainly does not stumble, even up to stage 5. My best results have been with the SCMT on the middle setting, and the Edge on stage 3. It shifts VERY firmly, at a very predictable yet quite high point, which is exactly what I like. At full throttle, it shifts at about 4000 rpm through all gears, and IMO opinion is faster than just the Edge at setting 5, however with both on the middle stages it is faster and is showing lower EGT to boot (I think the raised shift points really help the accell; some will disagree with this)

I can't really say about mileage, as I only have 900 miles on the new motor, and haven't driven it on the highway any, only in town traffic.

IMO the Edge is stronger overall than both the tuners, and the adjustable low boost fuel settings and the built-in gauges are great. I got the whole setup for 725 dollars. By the time you buy a tuner, a set of gauges, and a gauge pod, you will definately be over 725 bucks. For plain out power and versatility go with the Edge. The only downside is that its not quite as "smooth".

I have both on the middle settings. My EGT's pre-turbo only rarely climb above 1350 alarm on the Edge setting; I think it will be fine.

PSD do you notice the sound difference in setting 5? Also with the new version 1.63 i like and dont like the defuel on shifts. It helps under normal conditions but with the way that all that have responded to this post, BOB, JR and PSD drive this will only hurt us. It takes about 2 to 3 seconds(that what it feels like) to defuel and refuel. Thats alot of time lost in a race that you always want to win!

I notice a definately different tone, but there is no shift defueling...must the the SCMT? Mine is shifting FAST and HARD, and doesnt slack up the least...

Sounds like the shifting is still a little harsh on the 1.63. Is it really too harsh or is it just firmer and liveable. I'm not a racer, just a daily driver that tows a boat and likes to hammer on it ever now and then and don't want head snapping shifts. Thoughts?

Its quite hard, but then again im running both the SCMT and Edge together which definately makes it worse. For the short period of time that I ran just the Edge, it seemed to shift just marginally firmer than the SCMT. I don't think you'd be displeased with it, but then again to me the harder the better.
