EGR valve
Can any one give me some guidence on an egr valve?
What does it do and how important is it?
coulde it be the reason that my 351 is a cold bloded son of a monkeys uncle in the middle of july?

Basically, it does what the name says, recirculates exhaust. It runs it into the intake, but only at elevated rpm's. If stuck open, however, it can essentially cause a vacuum leak. Take it off and see if it is sticking, if so, a penetrating oil will clean it, don't waste your money on a new one unles totlly useless, as they are proud of them. Friend of mine has an 80 with a 302, and it wasn't wanting to idle hardly at all, and was difficult to drive, and between the pcv vave disintegrating and the egr valve sticking, it didn't want to run too well with all the vacuum being lost. After taking care of those, it purred like a kitten. I just had let it soak in WD40 to clean all the carbon off the pintle on the egr valve, worked it a bit, works fine now. They wanted $78 for a new one.
